Entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to apply to NSIN Foundry, a unique startup studio that sees participants join teams and be paired with cutting-edge federal lab technologies. Successful teams will form companies, license their technologies, and compete for $50,000 in prizes at the final showcase. Applications close today, July 1.

Innovators may submit solutions for capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) and advancing signal processing technologies to enhance spectrum sensing and situational awareness to win part of a $125,000 prize pool in the NSIN Presents: RF Spectrum Sharing Challenge, held in partnership with the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL).

Innovators looking for opportunities to connect with industry, academia, and government, win grants and prize funding, attend innovation events, and more are invited to follow the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hubs on LinkedIn. The page will give updates on the Hub network as well as the current Hub locations in Seattle, WA, Honolulu, HI, Phoenix, AZ, Dayton, OH, and Wichita, KS.



Finalists in the Multi-Domain Range Scheduling Challenge presented their solutions for range scheduling and management and competed for part of a $75,000 prize pool at a hybrid pitch event held at the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Arizona. DIU Deputy Director of Commercial Operations Liz Young McNally gave the keynote address with Angela Austin, Challenge Program Manager and Samantha Hiller, Arizona Regional Engagement Principal giving remarks on behalf of NSIN.



NSIN ALUMNI NEWS

NSIN alum Revolute Robotics, the maker of a hybrid-mobility drone that takes on challenging environments by moving across the ground and through the skies, was invited by Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos to participate in MARS, an exclusive, invite-only conference for leaders in the fields of machine learning, automation, robotics, and space technologies.

The DoD Chief Information Officer (CIO) has released Fulcrum, a roadmap to align information technology usage with DoD priorities. Fulcrum shares the lines of effort for the strategic shift and outlines how the plan will support  the CIO’s mission to protect, connect, and perform.

Join the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL)’s Small Business Hub to learn how to navigate and understand the planning, programming, budgeting and expectation (PPBE) process. Kristen O’Sullivan, the Chief of Strategic Plans and Programs at the Air Force Materiel Command will be explaining processes and defining the contractual process. 




JULY 31, 2024
Join Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to learn more about Other Transaction (OT) agreements and discover how they differ from more traditional DoD contracting vehicles. Speakers include Mac Ritch and Ali Etedali, DARPA Contract Management Officers. 




SEPT. 11-12, 2024
Join the Defense Strategies Institute for the 7th Annual Directed Energy Symposium to explore the latest advancements and applications in directed energy technologies adapted for the warfighter.



Innovators looking to connect with the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD (R&E)) and find pathways to collaboration with the DoD may leverage OUSD (R&E) event webpage. Events include open meetings, webinar series, research symposiums, and industry days.



FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Follow the NSIN Defense Innovation Funding Opportunities Series on LinkedIn to find funding from across the defense innovation space. 

The Defense Innovation Unit released a series of informational videos to assist companies with understanding and equipping themselves to enter into the defense ecosystem. In this week's highlighted video, DIU's Sarah Paulson and Travis DeMeester answers some of DIU’s most frequently asked questions.

Companies with communications equipment that could ensure connectivity across a heterogeneous swarm of multi-domain autonomous platforms may submit their solutions to DIU for the opportunity to receive another transaction (OT) award.

Companies with ability to lead an agile development activity, including the creation, design, development, demonstration and deployment of large-scale distributed autonomy solutions that could coordinate hundreds or thousands of unmanned assets in a shared environment, particularly when navigation and communications are disrupted or denied, may submit their solutions to DIU for the opportunity to receive another transaction (OT) award.
