Companies, entrepreneurs, researchers, and students discovered how they can impact national security, and how to access government programming and funding at the launch of the newest OnRamp Hub in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the event, the Hub announced an upcoming challenge, the Expeditionary Energy Challenge, to provide the DoD with innovative solutions for highly-conditioned, high-density expeditionary power, for an expeditionary network of space domain awareness telescopes.

During a recent House Armed Services Committee (HASC) hearing, DIU Director Doug Beck discussed the DoD programs and initiatives that are accelerating innovative technologies, solutions, and capabilities from research and development to the hands of warfighters.

Thought leaders in the federal IT community heard from Kedar Pavgi, NSIN’s National Capital Region Director and Acting Strategic Engagement Director, as he spoke during the panel, Views from the Top - Lightning Rounds, about how NSIN, DIU, and NSIC act as an on ramp, making entry into the Defense Innovation Base easier for new players. Kedar and his fellow panelists emphasized that existing and emerging cybertechnology can be transformed to meet the DoD’s needs as the department works to counter cyber challenges.

NSIN, in partnership with the Washington Air National Guard (WA ANG) 194 Communications Squadron, seeks innovative solutions to establish two-way communication during the eruption of Mt. Rainier and other natural disasters. The challenge launch accompanies the launch of the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Washington, a new “open door” to the DoD, where entrepreneurs can learn how to enter the Defense Innovation Base and solve DoD challenges. An Ask Me Anything (AMA) session will be held on March 13.

Innovators interested in emerging technologies can hear from founders and CEOs, government officials, Academy Award winners, and more to learn about tech trends in multiple industries at the eMerge Americas conference in Miami, Florida. NSIN Southeast Regional Director Beverly Seay will speak about emerging dual-use technology trends during a panel discussion at the conference.

Innovators with solutions that could enable small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) to operate in environments where the electromagnetic spectrum is contested—where challenges may include jamming, interference, and spoofing—may submit their solutions to DIU for the opportunity to receive a prototype Other Transaction (OT) award.
