Innovators with novel methods to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing may win part of a $1 million prize pool during the NSIN and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Present: Global Fishing Forecast Grand Challenge.

DIU, in its new alignment as a direct report to the Secretary of Defense, unveiled a new strategic plan for its organization. DIU Director Doug Beck shared, “The challenge now is to take the capabilities developed during DIU 2.0 and apply them with the focus, scale, and speed necessary to deliver the strategic effect required. This is what DIU 3.0 is all about.”

NSIN’s program for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets, the Flightpath Fellowship, launched with an event where cadets connected with one another to form teams, learned more about NSIN and DIU, and heard from guest speakers including AFWERX Chief Operating Officer Col. Martin Salinas and DIU Joint Technology Acquisition Innovation Officer Lt. Col. Alex Goldberg. During their spring semester this cohort will take on real-world DoD problems and gain insights into what the Air Force could offer them as commissioned officers.

Innovators can network and hear about investment and venture capital and modernizing the government with data and artificial intelligence (AI) from leaders in the technology and government sectors during the upcoming GovFuture Forum. NSIN National Capital Region Director Kedar Pavgi and DIU Senior Engagement Advisor to the Director William “Mac” McHenry will speak on both panel discussions during the event.

Innovators can solve problems, connect with one another, and meet leaders from startups, venture capital firms, and the military during the El Segundo Defense Tech Hackathon. Attendees will work on NSIN-sourced problem sets covering counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS), artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), and radio frequency (RF) and electronic warfare.

Join leaders from industry and the government as they share the latest developments on undersea warfare at the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) 2024 Undersea Warfare Spring Conference in San Diego, California. Attendees will gain insights on topics including countering submarines and mine threats and power projection from the sea.

Representatives from small business and academia may join leaders from the national security innovation space for DARPAConnect, an event designed to educate, motivate, and inspire collaboration. Participants will learn how to engage with DARPA program managers, discover strategies for crafting a winning DARPA proposal, and form a deeper understanding of contract vehicles.

|
Artificial intelligence (AI) experts and enthusiasts will learn about the latest emerging AI technologies at the Special Competitive Studies Project AI Expo for National Competitiveness in Washington, D.C.
