Four students from George Mason University worked this spring with DoD’s Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP) to improve the onboarding of Defense Industrial Base companies. As part of an NSIN Capstone project, the students looked for ways automation via artificial intelligence could reduce the resources required while facilitating smoother client acquisition and communication. The resulting recommendations included creating an onboarding cloud-based portal where Defense Industrial Base companies (DIBCOs) are guided with chat-bot assistance while onboarding the Defense Industrial Base Vulnerability Disclosure Program.

Ventures selected for the NSIN Forge program will work with federal laboratories, mentors, coaches, subject matter experts, and DoD end-users to assess the market viability and commercialization potential of breakthrough defense technologies. Early-stage ventures interested in the defense sector are invited to apply for NSIN Propel Boston. Selected companies will partner with experts from NSIN, the military, and private industry during the cohort and will work to transition their emerging technology solutions to address the modernization needs of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community and its partners. Attend an information session on June 29 to learn more about the accelerator and its technology areas of focus. Applications for the cohort are due Aug. 1.

Public safety officials interested in learning more about how they can leverage the Team Awareness Kit (TAK), a DoD-developed, off-the-shelf solution for generating tactical awareness, are invited to join NSIN, the Air Force Research Laboratory, the TAK Product Center (TPC) and private industry sponsors for an in-person public safety hackathon event.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial technology startup Danti has received $2.75 million in pre-seed funding to develop its search engine technology. In April, Danti won the geoSpatial Environment for Access, Retrieval & Content Hosting (gSEARCH) Challenge, sponsored by NSIN and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), for its solution to deliver increased decision superiority to warfighters by utilizing vast amounts of imagery and geospatial data at a scale and scope ahead of any adversary.

Innovators with research supporting autonomous ground and air vehicles, enhancing their operations in open, urban, and cluttered environments may submit their solutions to the U.S. Army’s xTech program for the opportunity to receive part of $500,000 in prizes and be invited to submit an application for a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant worth up to $250,000. Submissions are due June 29.
