The 2022 NSIN X-Force Fellowship   concluded last week as the 139 Fellows presented their final solutions to military commands. Over the summer, students in the X-Force Fellowship provided top tech talent to the DoD as they worked with the military and while gaining professional experience in the defense innovation sector. SEPT. 14, 2022 (Virtual)

The top six teams of entrepreneurs from the 2022 NSIN Foundry cohort will pitch cutting-edge federal inventions to solve real-world challenges in the military and the private sector. The teams will compete for part of a $50,000 prize to continue commercializing the federal lab technology.  

SEPT. 21, 2022 (Virtual)

The 250 companies participating in MassChallenge's 2022 Startup Accelerator will demonstrate technologies for advancing innovation in commercial and military communities. Save the date for the NSIN-sponsored event to see how these entrepreneurs are developing next-generation solutions.

NSIN ALUMNI IN THE NEWS

Perla Latorre-Suarez, an X-Force Fellow alumna from the University of Central Florida, has been selected by Aviation Week Network for the Twenties Award Class of 2022. The award recognizes the most promising graduate students in the world who are likely to change the aerospace industry.  

NSIN Propel, Foundry, Boost, and Transition Cell 

Candelytics and MIT are launching
an open-source competition using the ScanObjectNN open-source dataset to help users identify 3D objects in a virtual environment. There are $45,000 in awards at stake and the registration deadline is Sept. 30.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES 

Discover Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) opportunities with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) for your venture. Open opportunities include:
 
Commercial innovations for the capabilities of small boats such as increasing distance, speed, displacement, and maneuverability, while simultaneously decreasing signature, detection, and logistical footprint. Applications are due Aug. 24.  
The upcoming Veteran & Military Family fall 2022 program allows ventures to work directly with the Founder Institute team and The Veteran Fund to build a startup in the military community. Applications close Aug. 28.  
 

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is looking for molecular and biological solutions to DoD operational challenges in extreme cold weather with ice formation and downstream effects of that formation. Solutions are due Nov. 8.

Systems developers and operators with space mobility and logistics (SM&L) capabilities can demonstrate how their technologies will innovate the government’s future business, technical, and operational plans for SM&L.

SEPT. 27-29, 2022 (In-person)

Join federal agencies, private industries, and academics to collaborate on military and national security technology solutions to support the warfighter. This year's key focus areas include energy, climate, cyber, biodefense, space, advanced manufacturing, and 5G.  

OCT. 5, 2022 (Hybrid)

Join NAVSEA to hear from senior Navy leadership, Program Executive Offices (PEOs), and various NAVSEA Directorates about opportunities for small businesses. Participants will learn more about NAVSEA’s programs, strategic direction, and opportunities for small businesses to engage in prime and subprime contracting.
