Applications are now open for early-stage ventures with commercial applications in the Mid-Atlantic to apply for NSIN Propel 2022. This accelerator program guides participants to develop strategies for practical acquisitions, acquire knowledge and mentorship from experts, and grow the capacity of their dual-use technology to succeed in commercial and federal markets. Applications are due April 22.

NSIN Capstone students at San Diego State University and Rice University have been prototyping boats for the U.S. Coast Guard this semester. These student technologists are improving coastal surveillance, detection, and interdiction capabilities against threats posed by the transit of drugs in autonomous surface vessels across the maritime border with Mexico and into California.

Army Reserve soldiers and civilians from the 63rd Readiness Division participated in hands-on, practical problem-solving workshops in NSIN Bootcamp to develop solutions for how the unit provides personnel, readiness, sustainment, and training services to its partner.

Registration is open for the latest NSIN hackathon, Reality Bytes, focusing on visualizing cyber operations. Starting April 18, this virtual hackathon will challenge innovators to develop concepts, technologies, or systems to improve the abilities of military personnel to visualize, monitor, and respond to cybersecurity events as they compete for one of three $15,000 top prizes. Registration is required by April 18.

The showcase day will feature cutting-edge companies working on various technologies with important government applications, including energy and environmental tech, cybersecurity and analytics, digital optimization, health tech, and communication and sensing under challenging environments.

Defense Acquisition University (DAU) and Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) have partnered to develop the Immersive Commercial Acquisition Program. DoD acquisition personnel will work alongside a DIU contracting officer and project team to keep pace with commercial product cycles and adopt best practices for commercial procurement.

Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is seeking solutions to enable effective crew resource management (CRM) and flight procedures training in multi-place aircraft. Solutions must maximize the use of the DoD’s Pilot Training Transformation (PTT) platform to provide the flight simulation environment and associated hardware. DIU will award an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) contract that could develop into a follow-on contract. Submissions are due April 11.

Army Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Funding |
The Office of the U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA(ALT)) will award three SBIR and STTR prizes for technology solutions in advanced manufacturing. Each solicitation can receive up to $250,000 in awards:
Develop software to reduce noise from the engine cooling fans of Army ground combat vehicles.
Build solutions to improve the ride of warfighters in Army ambulances by lessening shock loads on the suspension components of the vehicles.
Design a tire using carbon-fiber-hoop technology that can increase the load-carrying capability and durability of Army vehicles in areas of low air pressure.
