NEWS: Distributed Spectrum LLC and Drone HQ each received $25,000 after winning NSIN's Vector showcase. Alumni credit NSIN as critical to their early success working with the DoD and expediting solution delivery to servicemembers.

NSIN Presents: Starts AFFOA

NEW JULY 29, 2021

EVENT: This two-part event will feature both a live pitch competition with 6-9 promising advanced functional fabric and fiber startups competing for approximately $450,000 in contract awards, plus a series of keynote presentations outlining DoD's strategy around advanced fabric, fiber, and textile technology and industry interests.

EVENT: NSIN is working with the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division on their inaugural innovation challenge to source solutions for making the division area safe, processes more efficient, and improving the effectiveness of training. Building on the courageous, audacious, and victorious "First Team," this opportunity challenges Troopers to be the legends who continue the next 100 years of #CAVLegacy.

EVENT: The Arctic is a harsh and unpredictable environment with unique challenges. Join us for the latest NSIN Hacks event to develop solutions to help collect, analyze, process, and visualize geospatial data in the Arctic. Registration is open now and closes July 19

DEFENSE INNOVATION NEWS & EVENTS 

JULY 7, 2021

EVENT: SOFWERX, in collaboration with the U.S. Special Operations Command, is hosting a virtual assessment event to evaluate concepts submitted that accelerate the application of commercially-derived software innovation into deployable warfighting capabilities in support of Special Operations Forces.

JULY 12 - 14, 2021

EVENT: The National Defense Industrial Association, in partnership with Texas A&M University, is exploring the intricacies and significance of Joint All Domain Warfare. The symposium will further the understanding of JADC2 to shape the future of warfare.

JULY 13, 2021

EVENT: The National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence will convene key democratic nations, international organization leaders, and private sector entities to define parameters for collaboration on global emerging technology issues. Featured speakers include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa).

JULY 20 - 22, 2021

EVENT: WDI will feature unclassified and classified comprehensive presentations, panels, one-on-one technical sessions, and leadership meet-and-greet exchanges focused on Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Science and Technology. Technical portfolios and contracting opportunities for Technical Directorates and supporting organizations will also be presented.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES 

The Naval X Northeast Tech Bridge, 401 Tech Bridge, and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) are launching the U.S. Navy Challenge: Rapid Design Tool for Advanced Manufacturing to innovate U.S. Navy valve handwheels. Submissions are due July 13 and winners are eligible to receive a $30,000 award. 
The NRO's Director's Innovation Initiative is seeking proposals for next-generation technologies for basic and applied research proposals in the areas of remote sensing, apertures, communications, system design, sense-making, and other disruptive concepts and technologies. Submissions will be accepted through Sept. 30.
The next National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) enterprise newsletter will be sent on Tuesday, July 6, as we observe the Federal Independence Day holiday on Monday, July 5.
